Health benefits

Extra virgin olive oil has been delivering health benefits to humans for centuries.

The health benefits first came to attention of scientists in the 1950's when American physiologist Dr. Ancel Keyes found that the people of southern Italy and the island of Crete who followed a traditional Meditteranean diet had some of the lowest rates of cardiovascular disease in the world.

Extra virgin olive oil is  nature's original superfood because:

  • is low in saturated fat (13%) and high in monosaturated ('good') fat (70%).
  • monosaturated fats are relatively resistant to heat and stable when cooked, making EVOO a great choice for everyday cooking.
  • rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. These bioactive compounds help protect blood lipids from oxidation (oxidative stress)
  • has anti-inflammatory effects
  • has cardioprotective effects
  • has neuroprotective effects
  • has been shown to help prevent and manage many common chronic health conditions
  • and has even been shown to help with weight loss

Consuming approximately 30-45ml of high quality EVOO per day has been linked in scientific research to a wide range of health benefits.
